HOW TO STOP FEELING LIKE A FAILURE

We plan, God laughs right?

Feeling like a failure usually comes from comparing our situations with what we think we should have achieved by now or with other people.

I’m going through this phase right now and there are a couple of things I tell myself that help boost my mood.

This too shall pass

Just like the season when I was jobless and confused, this too shall pass.

The only thing I need to do is make sure that I get out of it as soon as possible. Feeling like a failure is one feeling that will cripple you, it may even attract more failure if you aren’t careful.

‘I got myself in this situation and I will get myself out’ is what I tell myself. I don’t sit waiting for a savior, I take action.

Count your blessings

Gratitude is the one thing that I’ve found that helps me with a swift transition to the other side. I recognize that things are very shitty right now and

Being grateful all the time isn’t easy but it’s when you least feel thankful that you are most in need of what gratitude can give you.

Gratitude can transform any situation. It alters the vibration, moving you from negative energy to positive. It’s the quickest, easiest, most powerful way to effect change in your life. This I know for sure.

I’m a mess but I cannot forget the good things happening in my life like; I am healthy, my legs can take me from one place to the next, my hands enable me to work, my eyes can see, ears listen.

Write a gratitude list. Any moment you are tempted to think that you are a failure, pull it out and remind yourself some good things about yourself.

Release the victimhood mentality sis

Stop whining. No one gives a shit. Trust me.

Most of the time when I find myself stuck, it’s usually because I made some bad decisions in the past that got me dancing in with the devil.

The first step is to acknowledge that I am fully or partly responsible for the predicament. Own it. Take responsibility if you were responsible.

What this does is, it removes that victimhood mentality and you not only take charge of the current situation but also your situation moving forward.

Enjoy the damn process

This situation is only here for a season. Although it’s a terrible season, it’s teaching you something and if you aren’t careful to learn from it, it will come back to teach you that same lesson.

Save yourself a lot of time and take note of why things are happening the way they are.

If you want to stay stuck in the same place and keep getting spanked with the same lessons over and over, be negative, resentful and victimized. If you want to get over your issues and rock your life, be grateful, look for the good and learn.

Learn as much as you can to prevent this from happening again. Enjoy your process, smile at the situation knowing that it’s not here to last but here to teach you a lesson for the next step in your life.

Distract yourself

Sometimes, it’s easier to say that you can control your thoughts but it’s kinda hard when the situation is happening to you right now.

Personally, I watch something happy like stand-up comedy and it takes my stress away even if it’s just for an hour. In that one hour, I am not consumed by depression, in that one hour, I get to be happy. It helps.

Change your thought pattern

We are what we think believe or not. If you believe you can’t make it out, you won’t. Your subconscious mind doesn’t know how differentiate positive & negative thoughts and so if failure is what you constantly think about, failure is what it will bring you. Your thoughts you create your reality and that’s a FACT. Okkrrt?

Think better thoughts sweetheart, as long as you are breathing, hope is NEVER lost.

Stop suffering today for yesterday’s mistakes

How easy it is to look back and be filled with sadness about what we could have done differently. It’s so easy to do that but by looking back and feeling bad about it is suffering today for the mistakes made yesterday.

When that thought comes about, block it by saying, ‘No’, ‘Not today Satan’, ‘Get Out’ and counter it with a positive one like, ‘my name is (insert your name) and I can conquer this.’ ‘I am a badass.’

Cast your burdens

He did not bring you this far to leave you. He took you out of so many situations in the past to not get you out of this one. Cast your burdens unto Him and count your blessings.

God is preparing you something better, don’t get stuck in the lesson for too long though. Learn fast and get out of this situation.
