How To Attract New Clients As a Solopreneur (17 Easy Ways)

Attract New Clients As a Solopreneur

If you are a solopreneur and you’re looking to attract new clients, you may be wondering how to do that.

Maybe you’ve tried advertising in a few different places, but it looks like you’re not getting the results you want. Maybe all that’s left for you is to give up and find a 9-5 job.

Well, I’ve got some good news for you! There are lots of ways to attract new clients to your business and I’m going to show you 15 of them in this article.

But first, let’s take a look at why attracting new clients can be so difficult:

1. You sound like your competitors

You risk being invisible when you post content that is similar to your competitors.

The consequences of that include:

  • No new clients reaching out.
  • Stunted business growth because people can’t find a strong enough reason to follow you.
  • High probability of clients saying no when you reach out to them.

2. You don’t have time

As a solopreneur, there are many things you are doing. Such as serving your existing clients and creating content. All this could make it hard for you to focus on lead generation.

That is why it’s important to have a social media manager that can handle simpler activities like content creation.

3. You are consistent with the wrong tactics

There’s a huge myth in the industry that insists “consistency is the key” to success. I’ve personally worked with enough brands to know that you can be consistent but fail to grow.

The problem usually is; you’re doing the right thing at the wrong time. Or doing the wrong thing at the right time.

4. Your strategy is all wrong

I’m sure you’re tired of hearing this by now but a weak strategy could be the reason clients aren’t reaching out.

In a lot of cases, you need to tweak a few things to get the results you desire.

5. You lack clarity

It’s almost impossible to land new clients when you don’t know who your target audience is, their pain points and the process to use to reach them.

How To Attract New Clients To Your Solopreneur Business

When it comes to attracting new clients, you don’t have the luxury of waiting for an opportunity.

You need to be proactive about your new client acquisition strategy and develop a plan that will work for your business model and goals.

You’ve got to believe in your product or service, and you have to know how to market it. But if you don’t know how to attract new clients, it can be hard to get off the ground.

Luckily, there are several ways you can attract new clients that will help your small business thrive!

To help you get started, I’ve compiled 17 simple tips to help you attract new clients

1. Be honest and open about what you offer.

Be transparent about what you offer. I, for instance, don’t offer engagement services and I’m clear about that with all my clients.

Being truthful helps create trust and build stronger relationships between you and your clients.

Additionally, it gives your clients a more rewarding experience in terms of relationship building and loyalty.

2. Be clear about how you can help your clients.

You know what they say, “confused clients don’t buy”.

That’s why it’s important to be known for something specific. You also want to make that a part of your branding. We call that “in-your-face marketing”.

If you’re unclear about how you help people, nobody will remember you.

3. Offer valuable information about your services so that clients are clear if they want to work with you or not.

You want a client to say NO or YES, never maybe. That’s how specific you need to be.

4. Offer incentives for referrals so that people who refer others get rewarded too!

If you have an email list, you can do this. Do not be shy to ask others to vouch for you. But please make sure you deliver great results every time you get a client.

That way, you won’t even have to ask your clients to refer you.

5. Try using social media to advertise your business

But don’t spam your audience with sales posts every day. Keep in mind that people like to buy but they hate being sold.

6. Have an active website.

The reason I encourage you to blog is that it’s a great way for your clients to dive deep into your work. It’s also a good way to save time.

One blog post can be converted into countless pieces of content. This blog for instance has produced about 50 pieces of content for me. It’s about repurposing.

7. Make sure to add contact information so clients can reach out to you.

A wasted opportunity is an interested client who has no way of reaching you.

8. Own a website and have a portfolio

Have you worked with clients before? That’s great, put some of those results on your website. People love to see evidence that you can deliver results.

9. Ideate Intentionally

Anytime you look for ideas or create content, think about your client’s pain points.

That’s a simple yet effective way to attract prospective clients to your business. Your clients want to know that you can solve their problems.

10. Connecting Content With Business Objectives

What are your business goals? Write them down and create content with the intention to fulfill those goals.

The problem with a lot of solopreneurs is that they are too emotional about their business.

See, if your objective is to make more money then your goal should be to serve more people.

That could mean creating more content in order to increase visibility or creating more video content for the same reason.

You have a better chance of getting clients when more people see your content.

11. Be effective in telling your stories

Your brand is already telling a story right now.

If you’re inconsistent, that’s one of the stories your brand is telling. If your content is good, that’s another story you’re telling.

Every little thing matters more than you think. For instance, how you write captions, how you respond to comments etc

How do you want your audience to perceive you? Act accordingly.

If you brush off the little things, people will perceive your brand in a way that you do not want.

12. Target the Right Way

You cannot attract clients if you do not know who they are and what they need from you.

For Example:

Zara may target 18-24-year-old fashionable people. That does not limit 25 to 35-year-olds from shopping at Zara.

But the target audience is helpful to Zara because they know who to direct their ads to, what clothing to stock and how to structure their business to attract their target audience.

13. Make it easy for clients to give you money

If  you are a business with something to sell, then sell.

But don’t make the mistake of giving your clients a hard time with a 12-step checkout process.

Nobody has the time for a 12-step checkout process.

Make it easy for your clients to give you money by simplifying your process.

14. Don’t just exist on Social Media

You are wasting time if the only thing you do is post and call that social media marketing. Remember, a lot of 12-year-olds do that too.

It’s unfortunate how people take social media for granted.

If you want to attract clients to your business, make every action intentional.

15. DO NOT skip the salesy content

If people don’t know your services exist, they will never buy.

Don’t think of it as selling, think of it as offering help.

16. Differentiate

Most times, a client chooses to work with you not because you are the best but because they perceive you to be trustworthy.

Differentiating allows you to stand out among the competition.

I mean, why do you go to your favourite restaurant? What is it about that restaurant that stands out? Think of your brand in the same way.

17. Make your services obvious

Whether you’re posting on Instagram or on LinkedIn, offer your help to people consistently. You can do this with your branding. (See example below)

There’s so much power in repetition.

Every time someone interacts with my brand, they see my services at the bottom.

I make it obvious that I’m a social media manager and that if they need more, they can visit my website.

If they need services, even after 6 months, they’ll remember that I offer social media services.

Create Content With Ease

Content creation can be hard if you don’t follow the right process. A piece of content that’s poorly done will not perform as it should. And that can mess up how fast you grow as a brand over time.

The good news is, if you follow the right practices and avoid common mistakes, you’ll be ahead of the average content creator.

You’ll deliver good quality content to your audience and be able to increase conversions.

You’ll earn good money and finally stop stressing about your next client.

But here’s the caveat, you could have all this information but still struggle to implement it and deliver good-quality content.

Because of how busy you are, you might need someone to go over your work and make sure the content is well done. That’s where I come in.
