Navigating Entrepreneurial Doubt: How I Overcome the Struggles of Running My Own Business

Running your own business is an exciting journey filled with ups and downs. It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or even question your decision to be an entrepreneur.

Trust me; I’ve been there too. In this blog post, I want to share some of the practical steps I take when those negative feelings start to creep in. Hopefully, these relatable tips can help you find your way through the tough times.

1. Give Yourself Permission to Take a Breather

Let’s face it – we all have days when it feels like the weight of the world is on our shoulders. When that happens, I’ve learned to give myself permission to take a break.

Whether it’s a day off or a weekend getaway, stepping away from work can do wonders for your mental well-being. Remember, it’s okay to recharge your batteries; you deserve it!

2. Lean on a Supportive Network

Running a business can be isolating, which is why having a support system is crucial. In my case, I’m fortunate to have a network of fellow women entrepreneurs.

When I’m feeling down, I reach out to one of them and have a heart-to-heart chat. Having friends who understand the entrepreneurial struggle can provide much-needed encouragement and perspective.

3. Embrace Change and Pivot When Necessary

A couple of months ago, I found myself in a creative rut, and my business felt like a chore. That’s when I decided to shake things up.

I shifted my business model from offering only 1:1 marketing services to selling digital products and courses.

This change breathed new life into my business and made the journey fun again. Remember, it’s okay to pivot and adapt to what excites you.

4. Celebrate Your Wins – Big and Small

It’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind and forget to acknowledge your achievements. I make a point to celebrate even the smallest wins.

For instance, one of my recent clients landed her first customer through TikTok, thanks to our work together. Knowing that I had a positive impact on her business brings me immense satisfaction and keeps me motivated.

5. Be Selective with Advice and Information

In today’s digital age, we’re bombarded with advice and information, especially on social media. While it’s great to learn from others, it’s equally important to discern whose advice resonates with you.

These days, I’ve become selective about the sources I turn to for guidance.

If certain advice or content doesn’t serve me emotionally and mentally, I don’t hesitate to unfollow or mute it. This change has made me feel more empowered and less overwhelmed.

Remember, feeling uncertain or doubting your entrepreneurial journey is entirely normal. It’s all part of the process.

By taking breaks, seeking support from a network, embracing change, celebrating wins, and being discerning with advice, you can navigate the challenges and rediscover your passion for your business.

You’ve got this!
