With a lot more people building personal brands, it’s harder and harder to stand out. But it’s absolutely doable if you are willing to put in the work.
And a lot of people building these brands aren’t really putting in the work, myself included. If we did, we’d have more success.
As someone that is good at helping other people build their brands, here are just a few ways to improve your personal brand:
1. Define clearly who your message is for
Create a brand persona and a personal branding statement.
2. Build a personal branding strategy
What do you hope to achieve in 2months? 3 months? 12 months? Do not complicate this process. Figure out what you want and work backwards. If the goal is 10k engaged followers, what are 3 things you need to do?
3. Create a content calendar and a framework
Creating a content calendar allows you to create content intentionally. Have a system that allows you to create content seamlessly. I like to write a blog, record a podcast and then repurpose it for social media.
I definitely believe in outworking other people. Posting 1-2 times a day is something a lot of people aren’t willing to do. That’s why it’s a great way to start. It really helps put your brand out there. Plus, you’re able to know what works and what doesn’t.
Social media is about socializing. Don’t post and ghost, be very proactive about engaging with others, especially in the beginning.
Set KPIs and monitor your analytics on a weekly basis.
