If you’ve been wondering how to get more leads, you’re not alone.
A few weeks ago, I realized I wasn’t doing enough to consistently bring new clients into my business. I was relying on referrals, hoping the right people would find me, and telling myself I was “working on marketing.”
The truth?
I wasn’t doing much lead generation at all.
So I made a simple plan: send five cold emails every weekday.
It might not sound like much, but it was something I’d never done before.
There was also another reason I wanted to make it work.
I didn’t want to go back to a traditional job.
My last job left me burned out, and I promised myself that if I built a business, I’d build one that was sustainable not one that consumed my life.
Then, during a morning walk, I heard Leila Hormozi explain something called the Rule of 100.
It completely changed the way I thought about getting leads.
What Is the Hormozi Rule of 100?
The Rule of 100, popularized by Alex Hormozi, is surprisingly simple.
Choose one lead generation channel and commit to it for 100 days.
Depending on the channel, that could look like:
- Send 100 cold emails every day.
- Make 100 cold calls every day.
- Message 100 people in your network every day.
- Spend 100 minutes creating content every day.
- Spend $100 per day on ads.
The idea isn’t that the number 100 is magical.
It’s that most people don’t do enough consistent work to generate enough opportunities.
Why This Is Such a Powerful Way to Get More Leads
Imagine you send five cold emails.
For your efforts to pay off, you might need one out of every five people to reply.
Now imagine you send one hundred.
Suddenly, every single email doesn’t have to be perfect. One person ignoring you doesn’t matter.
Ten people ignoring you doesn’t matter. You have enough opportunities in play that the results come from consistency, not luck.
Instead of trying to write the perfect message, you’re simply creating:
- More opportunities.
- More conversations.
- More feedback.
- More chances to improve.
When that clicked in my head, I realized something.
I wasn’t struggling because I didn’t know enough about marketing. I was struggling because I wasn’t creating enough opportunities.
Where I Disagree
As much as I love the principle, I don’t think everyone needs to follow the Rule of 100 exactly.
One hundred actions every single day isn’t realistic for most small business owners.
Especially if you’re running your business alone.
Or if you’ve already experienced burnout.
I’ve done the hustle culture thing before.
It wasn’t worth it.
I’m not interested in building a business that requires me to work at full speed every day just to survive.
I want a business I can still enjoy five years from now.
My 100-Day Lead Generation Plan
Instead of copying the Rule of 100 exactly, I built a version that fits my life.
For the next 100 days, I’ll focus on two lead generation channels.
Weekends are for rest.
At the end of the day, consistency beats intensity.
By the end of the challenge, I’ll have sent around 500 cold emails and published around 100 YouTube videos.
That’s a lot more progress than waiting until I “feel ready.”
What This Means for Your Business
If you’re trying to figure out how to get more leads, you probably don’t need another marketing strategy.
You probably need more consistency.
Choose one or two ways to generate leads.
Set a number you can realistically stick to.
Then keep showing up.
I’m Putting This to the Test
I’ll be documenting my entire 100-day challenge.
I’ll share how many cold emails I send, how many replies I get, how many calls I book, how many YouTube videos I publish, and what actually works.
If you’re trying to get more leads for your small business, I’d love for you to follow along or even start your own 100-day challenge.
You don’t need to copy someone else’s plan.
You just need a plan you can keep showing up for.
